How to Stream and Play ISO file on Apple TV 4K/4/3?

With the advanced technology,  latest Apple TV 4K/4/3 offers 4K, 1080p Full HD output, you can enjoy high definition movies on your own TV home. If you have collected some ISO image files, why not stream and play your ISO files with Apple TV. Here’s how to do and please follow me.

From Apple TV offcial website, it native supports below video/audio formats:

  • H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High or Main Profile level 4.0 or lower, Baseline Profile level 3.0 or lower with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats.
  • MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats.
  • Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format.

So I suggest you convert ISO files to Apple TV supported e.g. H.264 MP4 format for streaming and playing without hassle.

Step 1. Load ISO files

Windows Version Brorsoft Video Converter Ultimate taken as example, Mac Version share the same steps. Just keep in mind you have download the right version, Windows platform .exe files cannot be installed on macOS – and vice versa.

Run the ISO to Apple TV Converter, and load ISO image files to the tool.


Step 2. Choose output format

Click “Format” bar and you can choose H.264 MP4 from Common Video or HD Video category for Apple TV as your output.

Or you can choose “Apple TV 3 1080p Dolby Digital Pass-through (*.m4v)” format for Apple 4K/4/3.


Tip: You can also edit ISO movie, just click the “Edit” icon to edit, like cropping, trimming, adding watermark effect, deinterlacing, merging, rotating as you like.

Step 3. Start Converting ISO Files to Apple TV

When everything is ok, click “Convert” button to convert ISO file to Apple TV compatible H.264 format.

Once finished, you can get the converted files by clicking “Open” button and open your iTunes select “add files to library” option to import the converted ISO files to iTunes library.

Stream ISO file to Apple TV via iTunes:

First, add the converted Blu-ray videos to iTunes. Then, go to iTunes > Preferences, choose Apple TV, and make sure “Look for Apple TVs” is selected.
Second, on your Apple TV, choose Settings > Computers > “Connect to iTunes,” and note the passcode displayed; in iTunes, select the Apple TV (below Devices), and enter the passcode.
Thirdly, click the Summary button and select one of “Automatic Sync” and “Custom Sync”.
